How Does Hand Pump Work

Pressing down on the pump lever pulls water into the cylinder. The piston moves upward and the foot valve opens when the pump lever is pressed downward; the piston non-return valve closes as the piston moves upward.

The operator raises the pump lever when the piston achieves the highest point of development. The piston goes downward and the foot valve closes when the pump lever pulls upward; the piston non-return valve is open all through this entire motion. This movement enables water to be transported from the piston non-return valve’s underside to its topside. The water that is currently on its topside similarly travels greater as the piston rises upward in the next motion.

More liquid gets sucked into the cylinder and the water level increases as a result of continuously pulling and pushing on the hand pump lever. The water starts to flow out of the pump when the level climbs to the discharge pipe’s height.
